We are Maroon Town – a nine-piece band born in the vibrant streets of Brixton and inspired by the defiant spirit of the Maroons of Jamaica.

For nearly 40 years, we have brought people together through an exhilarating mix of ska, reggae, rap, funk, soul and dub – taking the music from Brixton to audiences across some 35 countries and five continents.

At the heart of Maroon Town is a simple idea: music can cross boundaries, connect people and turn strangers into a community.

In 2027, we celebrate 40 years, and we’re still moving forward.

From Brixton to the world, Maroon Town’s journey has taken us to around 35 countries across five continents – from prisons in Kingston, Jamaica, to the Palace of the Sultan of Brunei; from the streets of Mumbai and Goa to Brazil, Venezuela, Japan, Sri Lanka and the Stans of Central Asia.

We became darlings of Catalunya — or, as we like to call it, Skatalunia – and even travelled into the remote hinterlands of Tajikistan in the Aga Khan’s helicopter.

These are more than stories of places we have played. They are stories of people, encounters and the extraordinary power of music to cross boundaries, create connection and bring joy.

Our music is a vibrant fusion of ska, reggae, rap, funk, soul, dub and cumbia – driven by infectious rhythms, powerful brass and an energy that invites everyone in.

We believe music can break barriers, build bridges and bring people together. Our songs carry stories of freedom, equality and connection, while our live performances turn audiences into participants.
